Car
If you're driving within Torres del Paine National Park, start from the main entrance at Laguna Amarga. From there, follow the signs towards Refugio Grey which is approximately 30 kilometers away. The road is generally well-maintained, but be cautious of wildlife and check for any road conditions before you set off. After about 30 minutes of driving, you will reach the parking area near Guarderia Grey. Note that there is a day-use fee for parking, which is approximately CLP 5,000 (Chilean Pesos).
Public Transportation
To reach Guarderia Grey via public transportation, take a bus from Puerto Natales to Torres del Paine National Park. Several companies offer daily services, and the journey takes about 2 hours. Once you arrive at the park entrance, you can arrange a shuttle service to Guarderia Grey. Be sure to confirm the shuttle schedule in advance as it may vary. The shuttle ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes, and the cost is around CLP 10,000 per person.
Hiking
If you are already in the vicinity of Refugio Grey and prefer to hike, you can take the popular trail leading to Guarderia Grey. The hike is about 11 kilometers one way and takes approximately 3-4 hours. The trail is well-marked and offers stunning views of the Grey Glacier and surrounding mountains. Make sure to carry plenty of water and snacks for the journey, as there are no facilities along the trail.
