Public Bus
Start at the nearest bus stop from your location in Gilbert. Take the Valley Metro Bus Route 156 towards Phoenix. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the 44th Street and Van Buren stop. Transfer to the Route 1 bus heading towards Scottsdale. After about 20 minutes, get off at the Indian School and 48th Street stop. From there, it's a short 10-minute walk to Echo Canyon Recreation Area. Head north on 48th Street until you reach E McDonald Drive, then turn right and walk until you reach the entrance.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local bike shops in Gilbert. Start your ride heading west on E Baseline Road. Continue for about 5 miles until you reach S 48th Street. Turn north on S 48th Street and cycle for approximately 3 miles until you reach E McDonald Drive. Turn right on E McDonald Drive, and you will find Echo Canyon Recreation Area on your left after about half a mile.
Walking
If you're up for a hike, you can walk from central Gilbert to the Echo Canyon Recreation Area. Start by heading south on S Gilbert Road towards E Baseline Road. Turn left onto E Baseline Road and walk for about 3 miles. Then, turn right onto S 48th Street and continue walking north for 2 miles until you reach E McDonald Drive. From there, turn right, and the Echo Canyon Recreation Area will be on your left after about 0.5 miles.
