Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start by heading southeast on AZ-83 from anywhere in the Huachuca Mountains. Follow AZ-83 until you reach the junction with AZ-80. Turn left onto AZ-80. The Mule Pass Tunnel is located along this highway, approximately 16 miles from the junction. Look for the signs indicating the Mule Pass Tunnel as you approach the area. You will find the entrance to the tunnel on your right side. The exact address is 1400-1524 AZ-80, Bisbee, AZ 85603. There is no parking lot specifically for the tunnel, but you can pull over safely along the roadside to enjoy the views.

• Public Transportation

  Using public transportation can be a bit tricky, as options may be limited. The closest bus service is available from the town of Sierra Vista. Look for a bus heading towards Bisbee. Once you arrive in Bisbee, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service to reach the Mule Pass Tunnel, which is about 5 miles from the Bisbee town center. Be sure to check the bus schedules ahead of time, as they may not run frequently, especially on weekends.

• Bicycle

  For adventurous travelers, consider cycling to the Mule Pass Tunnel. From the Huachuca Mountains, take AZ-83 south towards AZ-80. The ride is around 16 miles and features beautiful scenery but be prepared for some uphill stretches. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all safety guidelines. There are no designated bike lanes, so be cautious of traffic. Once you reach the Mule Pass Tunnel, you can park your bicycle safely along the side of the road.
