Glen Canyon Dam: A Marvel of Engineering

Getting There

• Walking

  From your location in Page, head towards US-89. If you're near the center of Page, you can start by walking to the intersection of Lake Powell Boulevard and US-89. Once you reach US-89, turn left (north) and continue walking for approximately 1.5 miles. You will see signs directing you to Glen Canyon Dam. The dam is located on the left side of the road, and you will also notice the impressive bridge that spans the canyon.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to bike, rent a bicycle at one of the local shops in Page. Start from the center of Page and ride south on Lake Powell Boulevard until you reach US-89. Turn left (north) onto US-89 and continue for about 1.5 miles. Be cautious as you share the road with vehicles. Look for signs indicating Glen Canyon Dam on your left, where you can park your bike and start your visit.

• Public Transportation

  Check the local bus schedule for routes that run along US-89. You may need to take a bus from the Page Public Library or any central location to the nearest bus stop on US-89. Once you get off the bus, it’s a short walk (approximately 0.5 miles) to Glen Canyon Dam. Follow the road signs directing you to the dam, and enjoy the views along the way.

  Consider joining a guided tour that includes transportation to Glen Canyon Dam. Many tour operators in Page offer shuttle services that will pick you up from your hotel or a central meeting point in Page. They will provide you with informative commentary about the dam during your visit.
