From downtown Tempe, head to the nearest bus stop and catch the Valley Metro Bus Route 66. This route travels directly towards Papago Park. You will need to pay a fare of $2.00 for a single ride, which can be paid using cash or a credit/debit card. After approximately 20 minutes, disembark at the 'Galvin Parkway & McDowell Rd' stop. From there, it's a short walk to the park entrance.
Bicycle Rental
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Tempe. Once you have your bike, head north on Mill Avenue towards McDowell Road, then take a left on McDowell Road. Follow this road until you reach Galvin Parkway. Turn right on Galvin Parkway, and Papago Park will be on your left. This route is approximately 3 miles and should take you around 15-20 minutes to cycle.
Walking
For those who enjoy walking, you can make your way to Papago Park from central Tempe. Start by heading north on Mill Avenue until you reach McDowell Road. Turn left on McDowell Road and continue walking until you reach Galvin Parkway. Turn right onto Galvin Parkway. Papago Park will be on your left. The walk is approximately 3 miles and will take about an hour, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated.
