Getting There

  • Driving

    From the town of Oracle, head south on American Avenue. Turn onto Mount Lemmon Highway and continue for approximately 1.1 miles to reach the park entrance. Alternatively, for Arizona Trail and stargazing access, continue on American Avenue to the American Avenue Trailhead parking lot. Note that after-hours access requires a reservation, which costs $12. The entrance fee is $20 per vehicle (2-4 adults) or $10 per vehicle (1 adult). An individual/bicycle entrance is $5.

Oracle State Park, a 4,000-acre wildlife refuge, rests in the northeastern foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains near the town of Oracle. Once the Kannally family ranch, the park now serves as an environmental learning center and a sanctuary for diverse flora and fauna.The park boasts over 15 miles of trails for hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians, including a section of the Arizona Trail. The trails wind through high-desert grasslands, scrub oak, mesquite, and granite boulder formations, offering views of the San Pedro River Valley. Keep an eye out for the solitary saguaro cactus and various wildflowers.The Kannally Ranch House, a Mediterranean-Revival style villa constructed in the 1930s, serves as the park's visitor center and museum. Explore the four-level adobe home, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and discover original furnishings, historic photos, and paintings by cowboy artist Lee Kannally. Note that the Kannally Ranch House is currently closed for facility improvements through June 2025, though the gift shop remains open.Oracle State Park is also an International Dark Sky Park, offering exceptional stargazing opportunities. The park's location, away from city lights, provides clear views of the Milky Way and other celestial wonders. Visitors can access the American Avenue Trailhead after the main park entrance closes to enjoy the night skies with a reservation.Whether you're interested in hiking, history, or stargazing, Oracle State Park offers a unique and enriching experience in the Arizona high desert.
