    If you are starting from the Prescott Courthouse Plaza, head northwest on Goodwin Street toward Montezuma Street. After two blocks, turn left onto Montezuma Street. Continue straight until you reach Gurley Street, then turn right. Walk straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the Prescott National Forest entrance. From there, follow the trails marked for Thumb Butte. The trailhead is located at the end of Thumb Butte Road, which is a short uphill walk from the parking area.
