Getting There

Walking
From the center of Sedona, head south on State Route 89A towards the State Route 179 intersection. Continue on 89A until you reach the entrance to the Red Rock State Park (approximately 2.5 miles). Enter the park and follow the signs for the Vultee Arch trailhead. This area is known for its stunning views and is the closest access point to Capitol Butte. The trailhead is about 10 minutes on foot from the parking area.

Starting from the Sedona Community Center, head south on the bike path that runs along the creek. Follow the path until you reach the intersection with Dry Creek Road. Turn right onto Dry Creek Road and continue until you reach the entrance to the Red Rock State Park. From there, take the Vultee Arch trail which will lead you to the base of Capitol Butte. The bike ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes depending on your pace.

Begin at the Sedona Arts Center located in the heart of Sedona. From there, take the path leading west towards the Forest Road 525. Follow this dirt road until you reach the Vultee Arch trailhead. The hike is approximately 4 miles and will take around 1.5 to 2 hours. As you approach Capitol Butte, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding red rock formations.
