To reach Carefree Desert Gardens from central Tempe, start by walking to the nearest Valley Metro Light Rail station, which is located at 100 E 5th St. Board the light rail heading northbound towards the Mesa area. Ride until you reach the 50th Street/Washington station. From there, transfer to Bus Route 56 (Northbound) towards Carefree. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the stop at Easy St & 101st Ave. Carefree Desert Gardens will be a short walk from the bus stop.

If you prefer biking, rent a bike from a local rental shop in Tempe. Start your journey by heading north on Mill Ave towards the Tempe Town Lake. Follow the bike path along the lake, then connect to the Arizona Canal Trail. Continue on this trail, which will lead you through some beautiful desert scenery. After about 10 miles, you'll reach Carefree. Once you arrive in Carefree, navigate to 101 Easy St, where the Carefree Desert Gardens are located.

If you are up for a longer walk, start from downtown Tempe. Head north on Mill Ave, then continue onto Rural Rd. Walk for about 4 miles until you reach the intersection with Carefree Hwy. From there, follow the signs to Carefree Desert Gardens. It will be approximately another 2 miles, so ensure you have plenty of water and wear comfortable shoes.
