Discover more about Pima Air & Space Museum

The Pima Air & Space Museum, located in Tucson, Arizona, is a must-see destination for anyone fascinated by flight. Opened in 1976, the museum has grown to become one of the largest non-government funded aviation and space museums in the world. Its collection features nearly 400 aircraft and 125,000 artifacts, spread across 80 acres with six indoor exhibit hangars. Three of these hangars are dedicated to aircraft from World War II. The museum's origins trace back to the 1960s when Davis-Monthan Air Force Base recognized the historical significance of WWII-era aircraft stored on the base. The museum's collection includes everything from a Wright Flyer to a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Explore the Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame, a space gallery, and the Dorothy Finley Aerospace Gallery. Visitors can explore exhibits detailing the evolution of flight, from early aviation pioneers to the space race. The museum also features a restoration center, where visitors can witness the preservation of vintage aircraft. Don't miss the 390th Memorial Museum, a separate museum on the grounds, dedicated to preserving the history of the 390th Bomb Group during WWII. For an additional fee, take a 45-minute narrated tram tour of the outdoor display area. The museum is adjacent to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, home to the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG), also known as the 'Boneyard,' the world's largest aircraft storage and preservation facility. While the museum does offer a bus tour of the Boneyard, it is located on the Air Force Base and is a separate tour.
