From Little Rock, take I-630 West to AR-10 West (Cantrell Road). Continue on AR-10 West, then turn onto AR-300 West. Follow AR-300 to the park entrance. Parking is available at the visitor center, West Summit trailhead, and other designated areas. Parking at the visitor center is free. Expect heavier traffic and potential for overflow parking on weekends.

Pinnacle Mountain State Park, a 2,356-acre park in Pulaski County, Arkansas, is a natural centerpiece, rising dramatically from the surrounding floodplains. The park's namesake, Pinnacle Mountain, stands at 1,011 feet, offering panoramic views of the Arkansas River Valley and the Ouachita Mountains.Originally called "Mamelle" by early settlers, the mountain's name evolved into Maumelle, which is now used for the nearby rivers and city. Pinnacle Mountain has been a popular destination since the 1800s, with increased accessibility thanks to the railroad in the 1890s and automobiles in the 1900s. The park officially opened in 1977 and was the first state park near a major urban center.The park offers over 33 miles of trails, including more than 19 miles of challenging mountain bike trails. Hiking trails range from easy, paved paths like the Arkansas Arboretum Trail to strenuous climbs up the East and West Summit Trails. The Monument Trails, opened in 2020, provide state-of-the-art mountain biking experiences. Visitors can also explore the Arkansas Arboretum, a 71-acre site showcasing Arkansas's native flora.Pinnacle Mountain State Park is also a certified Trails of Tears National Historic Site, bearing witness to the hardships faced by the Cherokee, Choctaw, Creek, Seminole, and Chickasaw nations. The park's new visitor center, opened in late 2023, offers exhibits, programs, and amenities, including a Loblolly Creamery Outpost.In recent years, Pinnacle Mountain State Park has expanded its accessibility initiatives, including the introduction of all-terrain Trackchairs, allowing visitors with mobility challenges to explore the park's trails.
