Discover more about Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden

Stroll through a captivating outdoor art experience at the Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden, nestled in Little Rock's scenic Riverfront Park. This unique garden features a collection of over 90 sculptures, each with its own story and style. The sculptures range from lifelike depictions of animals to abstract creations, ensuring there's something to capture every visitor's imagination. The garden was inspired by the Benson Sculpture Garden in Loveland, Colorado, with the goal of bringing a similar artistic experience to Little Rock. The project began in 2004 with an art show, and the positive response led to the creation of the garden. The Vogel Schwartz Foundation has been a key supporter of the garden, which is named in their honor. The garden is designed with natural terraces and walkways, creating an inviting space for receptions, weddings, and quiet contemplation. A 2017 redesign added boulders from Petit Jean Mountain and steel panels, creating gallery-like "rooms" and enhancing the element of surprise. Each year, a new sculpture is added through a commission competition. Among the notable pieces is a bronze bust of Daisy Bates, a civil rights activist who played a crucial role in the integration of Little Rock Central High School. The garden is located along the Arkansas River Trail, encouraging leisurely walks and exploration of both art and nature.
