Discover more about Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts

The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts (AMFA) has been a cultural touchstone in Little Rock since its beginnings as the Fine Arts Club in 1914. Officially opening as the Museum of Fine Arts in 1937, it has evolved into a comprehensive arts institution, offering a wide range of experiences from visual art exhibitions to live theatrical performances. Following a recent renovation completed in April 2023, the museum boasts a contemporary design that integrates seamlessly with the surrounding MacArthur Park. The architectural redesign, led by Studio Gang, preserved the original 1937 Art Deco facade while expanding the building to include more gallery space, a state-of-the-art theater, and updated facilities for the Windgate Art School. The museum's permanent collection features over 14,000 works, with a focus on drawings and contemporary craft. Visitors can explore works by renowned artists such as Rembrandt, Picasso, and Degas, as well as pieces by contemporary artists. AMFA also hosts temporary exhibitions, showcasing a variety of artistic styles and mediums. In addition to the visual arts, AMFA is home to a vibrant performing arts program, including the Children's Theatre, which offers live theater, concerts, dance performances, and film screenings. The Windgate Art School provides classes for all ages in diverse media, fostering creativity and artistic expression within the community. AMFA is more than just a museum; it's a community hub that welcomes visitors of all ages and backgrounds to explore, learn, and create. With free admission, a restaurant, and a gift shop, the museum provides a welcoming and engaging experience for everyone.
