Garvan Woodland Gardens is a 210-acre botanical garden owned by the University of Arkansas, located in the Ouachita Mountains near Hot Springs. The gardens showcase a diverse collection of ornamental and native plants, architectural structures, and scenic landscapes. Founded by Verna Cook Garvan in the 1920s, the gardens offer a place for learning, research, and cultural enrichment. From the Perry Wildflower Overlook, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Lake Hamilton through the trees, especially when the surrounding meadow is in bloom.     Getting There

    Walking

    From the Pratt Welcome Center, follow the main path through the gardens. Continue past the Sugg Model Train Garden and the Southern Inspiration Garden. The path gradually ascends towards the westernmost point of the gardens. Follow signs for Perry Wildflower Overlook. The walk is approximately 0.5 miles. Note that some paths are packed gravel and may be difficult for wheelchairs.
