Discover more about Queen Wilhelmina State Park

Queen Wilhelmina State Park, often called the "Castle in the Sky", is located atop Rich Mountain in the Ouachita Mountains of western Arkansas. The park's history dates back to 1898 when the Kansas City, Pittsburg and Gulf Railroad built the Wilhelmina Inn to attract passengers to the area. The Inn was named in honor of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands, as many of the railroad's investors were Dutch. Over the years, the original inn fell into disrepair and was eventually replaced.
