The name 'Teghenyats' originates from the Armenian word for 'Elm', reflecting the region's natural characteristics.
During winter, Teghenis transforms into a popular ski destination, attracting winter sports enthusiasts. In the warmer months, hiking trails reveal the mountain's beauty, with views stretching to Mount Ararat, Mount Aragats, and the Geghama Mountains. Public Transport
To reach Teghenis Mountain using public transport, start from Yerevan and take a minibus to Tsaghkadzor. Minibuses depart from Yerevan's Yeritasardakan metro station (Youth metro station) to Tsaghkadzor frequently from 6:40 AM to 9:00 PM. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes and costs around 700 AMD ($2). From Tsaghkadzor, you can hire a taxi to the base of the mountain near Buzhakan village, which is approximately 10-15 minutes away. Expect to pay around 2,000-3,000 AMD ($5-8) for the taxi ride to the mountain base.
