Discover more about Circular Park

Circular Park, threading through Yerevan's Kentron district, offers a refreshing greenbelt in the heart of the city. Envisioned in the 1920s by architect Alexander Tamanian as a key element of his garden city concept, the park's realization came in the 1960s. While Tamanian initially planned for a sprawling 1,200-hectare park encircling the entire city center, the final design was scaled down to a more modest, though still significant, stretch of 1.6 hectares. The park begins near the St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral and extends to Mashtots Avenue, following Khanjyan, Yervand Kochar, Alex Manoogian, Moskovian, and Isahakyan streets. This creates a half-circular shape that embraces the eastern part of downtown Yerevan. Throughout the park, visitors encounter statues of prominent Armenian figures, including Aleksandr Griboyedov, Andranik Ozanian, and Vardan Mamikonian. These monuments serve as reminders of Armenia's rich cultural and historical heritage. The park also features decorative monuments, such as the Monument of Friendship between Carrara and Yerevan and the Rebirth Monument. A benefactors' walkway showcases statues of Armenian philanthropists. Circular Park provides a welcome escape with walking paths, gardens, and a central pond where visitors can enjoy paddle boating. Cafes and restaurants near the park offer opportunities for relaxation and refreshment. While some areas show signs of needing revitalization, the park remains a popular spot for locals and tourists alike.
