History of Armavir

Armavir, one of the oldest cities in Armenia, was founded by King Argishti I of Urartu in the 8th century BCE. It served as a significant center of the Urartian kingdom and later became the first capital of Armenia under the Orontid Dynasty.
During the Orontid Dynasty, Armavir was established as the capital of Armenia. The city flourished as a cultural and political hub, playing a crucial role in the consolidation of the Armenian state.
