Diana Abgar Park, named after the pioneering Armenian writer, publicist, and diplomat Diana Abgar, is a modern park located in the heart of Yerevan. Inaugurated in June 2019 after extensive renovations, the park provides a serene escape from the bustling city. Spanning approximately 20,000 square meters, it's situated in the Kentron district, nestled between Aram Street, Saryan Street, and Mashtots Avenue. The park's design incorporates illuminated fountains, lush greenery with around 10,000 newly planted trees, shrubs and flowers, and paved walkways. The park is particularly enchanting in the evening, when the decorative lights create a magical atmosphere. Its central location makes it easily accessible and a popular destination for both locals and tourists. Diana Abgar (1859-1937) was a significant figure in Armenian history, serving as the diplomatic representative and consul general of the First Republic of Armenia in Japan. She was also a prolific writer, focusing on the Armenian Genocide, and is recognized as the world's first female diplomat. Naming the park in her honor reflects her lasting impact on Armenian society. The park is located on Main Avenue, which was designed by architect Alexander Tamanyan as part of the first master plan for Soviet Yerevan in 1924.
