Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Public Transport
From the Gyumri city center, make your way to the main bus station (located at Vardanants Street). Look for buses or marshrutkas (shared taxis) heading towards the village of Dzitoghtsyan or the Aragats region. Confirm with the driver that they will take you to the area near Mount Aragats. The journey may take about 30-45 minutes. Once you arrive at the closest drop-off point, you may need to walk a short distance to reach the base of Mount Aragats.
Walking
If you prefer to hike from a nearby location, you can walk from the last bus stop towards Mount Aragats. Follow the path heading northeast, which should lead you through scenic fields. The trail will gradually incline as you approach the base of the mountain. Ensure you are properly equipped for a hike and have a map or GPS device, as trails may not be well-marked.
Local Taxi
If you find public transport inconvenient, consider using a local taxi service. You can ask your hotel or a local to help you call a taxi. Provide the driver with 'Mount Aragats' as your destination. The taxi will take you directly to the base of the mountain, which should take about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.
Use Mount Aragats as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
