The Genocide Memorial Wall, an integral part of Yerevan's Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex, stands as a solemn tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide. Erected in 1967, the complex commemorates the 1.5 million Armenians who perished during the early 20th century. The 100-meter basalt wall is inscribed with the names of Armenian-populated settlements in Turkey, where massacres and deportations were organized.Beyond listing affected locations, the wall also honors international figures who raised awareness about the Armenian Genocide. Urns containing soil from the graves of these individuals are interred behind the wall, including humanitarians, politicians, and cultural figures.The Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex, including the Memorial Wall, has become a pilgrimage site for Armenians worldwide. Every year on April 24th, thousands gather to commemorate the genocide victims, laying flowers and paying respects. The complex includes the Sanctuary of Eternity with an eternal flame and a museum-institute dedicated to the study of the Armenian Genocide.
