Discover more about Victory Park

Victory Park, officially opened in 1950, provides a green escape and a place for reflection amidst the bustling city of Yerevan. Originally named Arabkir City Park in the 1930s, it was renamed to commemorate the Soviet victory in World War II. The park is dedicated to the victory of the Soviet Union in the Second World War and also commemorates Armenian soldiers who have died in various conflicts. The park's most prominent feature is the Mother Armenia statue, which replaced a statue of Joseph Stalin in 1967. This monument symbolizes the strength and resilience of the Armenian people. The base of the statue houses the Military Museum of Armenia, showcasing the country's involvement in various wars. Visitors can explore exhibits related to the Great Patriotic War and the Artsakh Liberation War. Beyond its historical significance, Victory Park offers a range of recreational activities. Visitors can stroll along the park's paths, enjoy the gardens and scenic views, have picnics, or enjoy amusement park attractions. The park also features an artificial lake called Arevik, constructed between 1958 and 1961, that replicates the outline of Lake Sevan. A Ferris wheel offers stunning vistas of Yerevan and Mount Ararat. Several kiosks and cafes throughout the park provide snacks, drinks, and ice cream. Other notable features include the Alley of Heroes and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, commemorating those who died during World War II. The park also contains examples of military vehicles.
