Public Transport
To reach Akhtala Fortress via public transport, take a marshrutka (shared minibus) from Dilijan to Alaverdi. Marshrutkas depart from the main bus station in Dilijan. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes and costs around 500 AMD. Once you arrive in Alaverdi, you can either take a taxi to Akhtala Fortress for about 1,500-2,000 AMD or walk about 6 kilometers, following the road signs to the fortress.
Walking
If you are already near Akhtala, you can walk to the fortress. From the center of Akhtala town, head towards the fortress, which is located about 1.5 kilometers to the northeast. The walk will take you approximately 20-30 minutes. Follow the main road, and you will see the fortress on a hilltop as you approach.
