Walking

From Dilijan city center, follow the road towards the Mineral Water Factory along the Bldan River. Continue to the end of the road where a small parking lot marks the start of the hiking trail. The well-marked trail is approximately 3.2 km long and takes about 1-2 hours to hike to the monastery. No entrance fee is required.

Take a taxi from Dilijan to the trailhead near the Mineral Water Factory. From the trailhead, hike approximately 3.2 km to reach Jukhtakvank Monastery. A taxi ride from Dilijan to the trailhead will cost approximately 1000-1500 AMD. No entrance fee is required.

Jukhtakvank Monastery, a tranquil and historic site, is located in a clearing inside Dilijan National Park. This complex, dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries, consists of two churches and is known for its peaceful atmosphere and integration with the surrounding natural landscape.The monastery includes two primary churches: Surb Grigor (St. Gregory) and Surb Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God). Surb Grigor is believed to be the older of the two, featuring a central-domed structure with intricate stone carvings. Surb Astvatsatsin, completed in 1201, is a simpler rectangular building. Over time, the dome of Surb Grigor collapsed, leaving the structure open to the elements.Visitors to Jukhtakvank can explore the historical and architectural features of the churches, appreciate the serene environment, and enjoy the natural beauty of the encompassing forest.
