Armenian Alphabet Monument Travel Guide

Nestled on the eastern slope of Mount Aragats in the village of Artashavan, the Armenian Alphabet Monument is a tribute to the Armenian language and its rich cultural heritage. Created in 2005 by architect Jim Torosyan, the monument marks the 1600th anniversary of the invention of the Armenian alphabet by Mesrop Mashtots in 405 AD. This alphabet was crucial for translating the Bible and spreading Christianity in Armenia, marking the 5th century as the "Golden Age of Armenia".The monument features 39 giant, intricately carved stone letters, each representing a character in the Armenian alphabet. Visitors can walk among these sculptures, admiring the unique design of each letter and taking photos with the initial of their name.
