Located in the heart of Yerevan at 70 Pushkin Street, the Ara Sargsyan and Hakob Kojoian House-Museum is a branch of the National Gallery of Armenia. Established in 1973, the museum preserves the legacy of sculptor Ara Sargsyan (1902–1969) and painter Hakob Kojoian (1883–1959), two significant figures in Armenian art. The two-story building itself is a cultural heritage monument. It was built in 1935 on the initiative of Aghasi Khanjyan, the First Secretary of the Armenian Communist Party. The architect was Varazdat Arevshatyan. Sargsyan lived and worked on the first floor, using the mezzanine as his studio, while Kojoian lived and worked on the second floor. In 1973, their heirs donated the building to the state, leading to its transformation into a museum. The museum's collection includes works from the artists' family collections, student works, photos, handwritten memoirs, theatrical designs, and graphic works. Sargsyan's art displays a blend of national and European influences, combining traditional and modern elements. Kojoian's art is comprehensive, including graphic design, painting and different branches of decorative applied art. His paintings reflect the daily life of Armenia and admire the beauty of nature. Visitors can explore the artists' living and working spaces, gaining insight into their creative processes. The museum also hosts various sculptures in its courtyard, including medieval khachkars and works by Ara Sargsyan.
