Hi, I'm Eve. Here are a few practical things to know before exploring Shaki Waterfall.
Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the town of Yeghegnadzor, which is the administrative center of Vayots Dzor. Head southeast on the M2 highway towards Shaki. After approximately 25 km, you will reach the village of Shaki. Keep an eye out for the sign indicating the Shaki Waterfall, which is just a short drive from the village center. Park your car in the designated parking area near the waterfall trailhead.
Public Transport
For those using public transportation, take a minibus (marshrutka) from Yeghegnadzor to Shaki. The minibuses run frequently throughout the day, and the fare is usually around 1,000 AMD (about $2.50). Once you arrive in Shaki, ask locals for directions to the waterfall; it is a popular destination and they will guide you. The waterfall is about a 20-minute walk from the village center, so be prepared for a short hike.
Walking
After arriving in Shaki, if you choose to walk to the waterfall, follow the main road leading out of the village. The trail will be marked with signs pointing towards the waterfall. The walk is scenic and takes approximately 20-30 minutes. Wear comfortable shoes, as the path may be uneven in some areas.
