Arikok National Park: Aruba's Natural and Cultural Heart

Arikok National Park, established in 2000, covers approximately 7,907 acres (32 km²) of Aruba's northeastern region, representing nearly 20% of the island's total land area. The park's name, "Arikok," is derived from the Arawak language, meaning "mountain of stones," reflecting its rugged terrain. This protected area showcases Aruba's commitment to preserving its biodiversity, geological formations, and historical and cultural significance. Within Arikok, visitors encounter a diverse range of landscapes, from hills of lava and limestone to desert expanses dotted with towering cacti. The park is home to unique attractions such as the Fontein and Quadirikiri Caves, adorned with ancient Arawak Indian drawings.
