Discover more about Lincoln's Rock

Lincoln's Rock is a stunning and historically significant lookout located on the Kings Tableland Plateau, near Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains. Officially named in 2013 after Lincoln Hall, an Australian mountaineer who lived in the area and survived a near-death experience on Mount Everest, the site was previously known as Flat Rock, Honeymoon Rock, or Wedding Rock. This expansive, flat sandstone rock offers sweeping views of the Jamison Valley, with the cliffs of Mount Solitary visible to the southwest. The ever-changing light and cloud formations create a mesmerizing display of colors throughout the day, making it a favorite spot for photographers and sightseers. Lincoln's Rock has become increasingly popular due to the unique photo opportunity it presents: visitors can sit on the edge of the rock, creating the illusion of dangling hundreds of meters above the valley. While there is a ledge below, safety precautions should always be taken. The site also holds historical significance for the Aboriginal Gandangara people, who utilized the Kings Tableland plateau.
