Apex Park: Byron Bay's Beachfront Oasis

Apex Park is a beloved beachfront parkland in the heart of Byron Bay, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and recreational facilities. Located directly in front of Main Beach, the park provides panoramic views stretching from Mount Warning to Julian Rocks and the iconic Cape Byron Lighthouse. The park features grassy areas ideal for picnics, relaxing, and soaking up the sun. Free BBQ facilities and picnic tables are available for public use, making it a popular spot for gatherings. While the main playground equipment was removed in October 2023 due to safety concerns, the swings and spring toys remain in place, and a new playground is planned for installation in 2025. Apex Park is conveniently located close to town, making it easy to grab a bite to eat or explore the local shops. A scooter-friendly path leads to Clarkes Beach, offering a scenic route for a leisurely stroll. The park is also dog-friendly (on leash), though dogs are not allowed on the beach directly in front of the park. The park's atmosphere is often lively, with buskers and performers adding to the vibrant scene. Apex Park is a special place with a rich Aboriginal history, as Main Beach is encompassed by Arakwal Country, a significant meeting place for the Arakwal people and other tribes.
