Bus
To reach the Butterfly Sanctuary in Kuranda, start at the Cairns Central Bus Station located at 51 Grafton Street. Look for the 'Kuranda Scenic Railway' or 'Kuranda Bus' signs. Purchase a ticket for the bus that goes directly to Kuranda. The bus ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Kuranda, disembark at the Kuranda Village stop. From there, walk along the main street until you reach Rob Veivers Drive. Take a right onto Rob Veivers Drive and continue walking for about 10-15 minutes. The Butterfly Sanctuary will be on your left at 8 Rob Veivers Dr.
Skyrail
For a scenic route to the Butterfly Sanctuary, consider taking the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Start at the Skyrail terminal located just outside of the city center, near the Cairns Esplanade. Purchase a ticket for the Skyrail which will take you above the rainforest canopy to Kuranda. The journey lasts about 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at the Kuranda station, exit the Skyrail terminal and head towards the Kuranda Village. Walk down the main street until you reach Rob Veivers Drive, then turn right and continue walking for about 10-15 minutes. The Butterfly Sanctuary will be on your left at 8 Rob Veivers Dr.
Walking
If you are already in Kuranda, you can walk to the Butterfly Sanctuary. Starting from the Kuranda Village, head towards the main street and walk until you reach Rob Veivers Drive. Turn right onto Rob Veivers Drive, and continue walking for about 10-15 minutes. The Butterfly Sanctuary will be located on your left at 8 Rob Veivers Dr.
