Car
If you are starting from Cooktown, drive south on the Endeavour Valley Road (also known as the Cooktown Developmental Road). After about 25 kilometers, turn left onto the Finch Bay Road. Follow this road until you reach Finch Bay, which is approximately 15 kilometers from the turnoff. The road is unsealed in parts, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended. Be sure to check road conditions before you set out, as there can be seasonal changes that affect accessibility.
Public Transportation
To reach Finch Bay using public transport, take a bus from Cooktown to the nearest major stop on Endeavour Valley Road. Note that bus services may be limited, so check the current schedule. Once you arrive at the stop, you will need to arrange for a taxi or local ride-share service to take you the remaining distance to Finch Bay, as there is no direct public transport to the bay itself. Expect to pay around AUD 50-70 for the taxi ride depending on the distance.
