    Mikkira Station Koala Sanctuary is located approximately 25km south of Port Lincoln. From Port Lincoln, take Proper Bay Road south, continuing past the turnoff to Lincoln National Park. Turn right onto Fishery Bay Road (unsealed) and then right again onto Mikkira Lane. Drive 2.5km to the locked entrance gate. You will need a pre-arranged permit and code to unlock the gate. Once inside, drive 2km to the campground area. Vehicle permit for 24 hours costs $30.

Mikkira Station Koala Sanctuary is a 600-acre private property located 25km south of Port Lincoln on the Eyre Peninsula. Once a large sheep station dating back to 1842, it's now a sanctuary for over 100 wild koalas and other native wildlife. The Barngalla, Nauo, and Battara peoples are the traditional owners of the area, and they often camped at the Mikkira waterhole. Visitors can explore the natural bushland, spot koalas in the Manna Gum trees, and observe kangaroos and emus roaming freely. The sanctuary also features remnants of its sheep station past, including stone wall sheepyards, the chimney from the shearer's quarters, and a restored museum cottage.
