Lino Ramble, established in 2012, is the creation of Andy Coppard and Angela Townsend, two winemakers with a shared passion for crafting sustainable and drinkable wines. Eschewing the traditional full-bodied reds that McLaren Vale is known for, Lino Ramble specializes in lighter-style wines made from climate-appropriate grape varieties. The winery operates out of a charming, rustic cellar door located in the front bedroom of a historic sandstone cottage on McMurtrie Road. This unique cellar door is shared with Bondar Wines and Sherrah Wines, creating a collaborative and dynamic environment for wine lovers. The cottage itself has a rich history, dating back to the Sparrow family, who once owned Wirra Wirra winery. At Lino Ramble, wine tastings are a personal and relaxed experience, often led by the winemaker themselves. Guests can sample a range of current release wines while learning about the vineyard sites and the winemaking philosophy. The focus is on minimal intervention, allowing the natural character of the grapes to shine through. Lino Ramble is committed to working with growers who care for their land and adapt to climate challenges. The winery's dedication to sustainability extends to its choice of grape varieties, with a focus on Mediterranean standouts like Nero d'Avola and Fiano. Lino Ramble was the first producer of Grillo in McLaren Vale, adding another layer to the region's diverse flavor profile.
