Spring Mount Conservation Park, located in the Fleurieu Peninsula near Inman Valley, South Australia, is a 279-hectare protected area offering a peaceful retreat into nature. Originally proclaimed as a Wild-Life Reserve in 1966, it was re-established as a Conservation Park in 1972 and expanded in subsequent years. The park's landscape features an undulating ironstone plateau with steep valleys, supporting an open forest of Brown Stringybark and Messmate Stringybark. The understory is rich with Myrtle Wattle, Beaked Hakea, and Yacca, creating a diverse habitat for wildlife. Over 90 bird species have been recorded, including the Adelaide Rosella, Superb Fairywren, and Scarlet Robin. Lucky visitors may also spot Western Grey Kangaroos and echidnas. Visitors can explore the park via a network of fire access tracks and walking trails. An easy hike from Gate 4 leads to an old quarry, while longer routes offer more challenging exploration. The park is known for its vibrant wildflowers, particularly beautiful in spring.
