Car
From any location in the Flinders Ranges, head towards Wilmington SA 5485. If you're coming from the south, take the Horrocks Pass Road (B80) towards Wilmington. If you're coming from the north, follow the main road through the Flinders Ranges National Park. Once in Wilmington, follow the signs to Mount Remarkable National Park. After about 8 km from Wilmington, you will see the entrance to Alligator Gorge on your left. There is no entry fee for the park, but parking is available at the gorge.
Public Transportation
To reach Alligator Gorge via public transport, first take a bus from Adelaide to Wilmington. The bus service is provided by 'LinkSA' and runs a few times a week. Check their timetable for current schedules. Upon arriving in Wilmington, you will need to arrange a taxi or rideshare service to reach the gorge, as public transport does not directly serve Mount Remarkable National Park. Expect taxi fares to range around AUD 20-30 to cover the 8 km distance.
Hiking
If you are already in the vicinity and enjoy hiking, you can access Alligator Gorge by walking from the Mount Remarkable National Park visitor center. This will involve a hike of approximately 2 km along the marked trails, which offer beautiful views of the gorge. Ensure you wear appropriate hiking shoes and carry sufficient water. The trails are well-maintained, but it's advisable to check local weather conditions before setting out.
