Bunyeroo Valley Lookout: A Scenic Gem in the Flinders Ranges

Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from the main township of Wilpena Pound. From Wilpena Pound, head south on the Flinders Ranges Way (Brachina Gorge Road). Continue on this road for approximately 18 kilometers until you reach the sign for Bunyeroo Valley Lookout. Turn onto Bunyeroo Valley Road, and follow this road for about 7 kilometers. The lookout will be on your right. There are no entry fees for visiting the lookout.

  Using public transportation to reach Bunyeroo Valley Lookout can be challenging, as direct services may not be available. However, you can take a bus from Adelaide to Hawker, which operates several times a week. From Hawker, you would need to arrange a taxi or local shuttle service to Wilpena Pound (approximately 35 kilometers away). The distance is about 18 kilometers to the turn-off for Bunyeroo Valley Road. Please ensure that you have adequate supplies and water, as the terrain can be challenging and the weather can be hot. • Walking/Hiking

  If you prefer to hike, it is possible to walk from Wilpena Pound to Bunyeroo Valley Lookout, though it's a significant distance. The hike is approximately 25 kilometers one way and should only be undertaken by experienced hikers. The route will take you along Flinders Ranges Way, and you should plan for a return journey over two days, camping along the way. Make sure to carry sufficient water, food, and camping gear.
