Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from Melbourne, take the Calder Freeway (M79) heading north. Continue on the Calder Freeway for approximately 60 km until you reach the exit for Woodend. Take the exit towards Woodend and follow signs to the town center. Once in Woodend, follow High Street, which becomes South Rock Road. Continue for about 5 km until you arrive at Hanging Rock, located at 139 S Rock Rd, Woodend VIC 3442. There is car parking available at the site, which may incur a fee.

• Public Transport

  To reach Hanging Rock by public transport, start by taking a train from Melbourne to Woodend Station. The train ride takes roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes. Once you arrive at Woodend Station, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service to reach Hanging Rock, as there is no direct public transport service. The taxi ride is approximately 10 minutes and may cost around AUD 15-20. It is advisable to book your taxi in advance if possible.

  For those who are feeling adventurous, consider biking to Hanging Rock. From Woodend, head south on High Street, which will turn into South Rock Road. The ride is approximately 5 km and can take about 20-30 minutes depending on your cycling speed. Ensure you have a bicycle suitable for road riding and carry enough water and snacks for your trip.
