Discover more about Twin Falls Kakadu National Park

Twin Falls is a jewel within the World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park, a place where ancient landscapes meet cascading waters. The falls originate from the South Alligator River, tumbling down the Arnhem Land escarpment in a series of tiers, with a total height of 158 meters. The journey to Twin Falls is an adventure in itself. The turn-off is approximately 45 kilometers south of Jabiru along the Kakadu Highway. From there, a 50-kilometer unsealed road leads to the Garnamarr Camping area, followed by a 10-kilometer 4WD track with creek crossings. A boat shuttle then takes visitors through the gorge to the base of the falls. At the base of the falls, a marked track leads to a sandy beach and plunge pool. Swimming is restricted due to the presence of crocodiles, but showers are available. For the adventurous, a 6-kilometer return hike to the top of the escarpment offers breathtaking views and the chance to swim in rock pools. **Note:** As of July 2025, the walk to the base of the gorge is closed for infrastructure upgrades and is expected to reopen in the dry season of 2026.
