Discover more about Robinswood Homestead

Robinswood Homestead stands as a well-preserved testament to the history of Robinvale. Built in 1926 for the Cuttle family, who founded the town, the homestead offers visitors a glimpse into the past. Herbert Cuttle purchased the land in 1921 and named the town in honor of his son Robin, who died in World War I. The homestead itself was considered modern for its time, featuring rendered concrete walls, roof tiles, and leadlight windows and doors, all of which are original. Inside, an immense mirror, returned by the family after being removed in the 1940s, graces the entranceway. The surrounding gardens still contain shrubs and trees planted when the home was built, including citrus trees and a bougainvillea. Two large peppercorn trees mark the site of the original drop-pine log house that preceded Robinswood. Robinswood was a hub for family gatherings and community meetings. Today, the homestead is open to visitors and available for hire as a function space. The Cuttle Room displays memorabilia and mementos, offering insights into the history of the house and township. The homestead is utilized by the general public as a venue for craft groups and meetings and for special events such as small weddings, and patchwork and doll displays.
