Getting there

Public Transport

From Melbourne Central Station, take Tram #19 towards North Coburg. Alight at Stop 16 (Walker St/Royal Parade), which is a short walk from Ikon Park. A single fare Myki card is required for public transport in Melbourne, costing around $4.60.

Walking

From the Melbourne Zoo, walk south along Royal Parade for approximately 1 km. Ikon Park will be on your left. The walk takes about 15 minutes.

Car

Limited parking is available around Ikon Park. Public parking is available at Northern Lawn for around $10. Free street parking might be available on Royal Parade on weekends, but it can be difficult to find. Barkly Square offers 3-hour parking.

Ikon Park, deeply entwined with the Carlton Football Club, has been a cornerstone of Australian Rules football for over a century. Originally known as Princes Park, the ground has evolved from a general recreation area in the 1860s to a dedicated football venue. The Carlton Football Club has called Ikon Park home since 1897, creating a lasting legacy within its grounds.Ikon Park was the last suburban ground used in the AFL, with its final official match held in 2005. The park has a capacity of 22,000. In 2008, the venue underwent a multimillion-dollar redevelopment, modernizing the facilities while preserving its historical significance. The redevelopment included a gymnasium, medical offices, and administration facilities.Today, Ikon Park is the training and administrative headquarters for the Carlton Football Club and a prominent venue for the AFL Women's league. It hosted the 2018 AFL Women's Grand Final and continues to be a vital hub for Australian Rules football. Visitors can explore the grounds, witness training sessions, and immerse themselves in the rich history of the Carlton Football Club.
