Walking
If you are in the Southbank area, the Evan Walker Bridge is easily accessible by foot. Start by heading towards the Yarra River, which is just a short walk away. From the Southbank Promenade, follow the riverbank path either east or west; the bridge is located at the southern end of the promenade. Look for signs indicating the Southbank Pedestrian Bridge. The bridge is a pedestrian-only structure, providing a scenic walk with views of Melbourne's skyline and the river.
Public Transport - Tram
For those further away in Southbank, you can take a tram to reach the bridge. Board any tram heading towards the 'Southbank' or 'Flinders Street Station' stops. The closest tram stop is 'Southbank Boulevard' or 'Flinders Street' depending on your starting point. Once you disembark, walk towards the river; the bridge will be visible nearby. Tram fares vary, so ensure you have a valid Myki card, which costs AUD 6 for the card itself plus additional fare for your journey.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, Southbank has bike paths that lead you directly to the Evan Walker Bridge. Rent a bike from one of the many bike-share stations around the area. Make your way to the Yarra River bike path and follow it to the bridge. Ensure that you return your bike at a designated station when you're done. There may be a small rental fee, typically around AUD 2 for the first 30 minutes.
