Getting There
Car
If you are driving, start from the Mount Field National Park Visitor Centre. Head south on Lake Dobson Road, following the signs for Mount Mawson. Continue on this road for about 11 kilometers (approximately 20 minutes). The road is mostly sealed but be cautious of any weather conditions that may affect visibility. You will reach a car park at the end of the road, where you can park your vehicle. From there, you can either walk to the summit of Mount Mawson via various walking tracks.
Public Transportation + Walking
If you are using public transport, take a bus to the Mount Field National Park Visitor Centre from Hobart. Once you arrive at the Visitor Centre, ask for information regarding the local walking trails. The bus service may not run frequently, so check schedules in advance. After visiting the Visitor Centre, you will need to walk approximately 11 kilometers to reach Mount Mawson. Follow Lake Dobson Road, and be prepared for a hike. Ensure you wear appropriate hiking shoes and carry water and snacks for the walk.

For those already within Mount Field National Park, you can access Mount Mawson by taking one of the walking tracks leading from the Lake Dobson car park.
