If you are already within Mount Field National Park, the easiest way to reach Mount Field East is by car. From the visitor center, head east on Lake Dobson Road. Follow this road for approximately 10 km until you reach the Mount Field East trailhead. There is a designated parking area where you can leave your vehicle. Please note that there may be a parking fee, so check the latest charges at the visitor center.

Walking
Once you have parked at the Mount Field East trailhead, you will need to walk to reach the summit. The Mount Field East track is well-marked. Follow the trail from the parking area for about 2.5 km to reach the summit. The hike is moderately challenging and can take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your fitness level. Bring plenty of water and prepare for changing weather conditions.

Public Transportation
For those relying on public transportation, take a bus from Hobart to the town of New Norfolk, which operates several times a day. From New Norfolk, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to Mount Field National Park, as public transport does not go directly into the park. Once inside the park, follow the car guidance described above to reach Mount Field East.
