Getting There

    If you are driving from the central area of Mount Wellington, head onto Huon Road (A6) and follow the signs for Mount Wellington. Continue for approximately 10 kilometers until you reach the Pinnacle Road turnoff. Take a left onto Pinnacle Road and follow it all the way to the summit. Please note that there is a parking fee of $2 per hour for parking at the Pinnacle. Make sure to arrive early as parking can fill up quickly, especially on weekends.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach kunanyi / Mount Wellington using public transportation, start by taking the Metro Tasmania bus number 446 from the Hobart CBD (bus stop on Elizabeth Street). The bus will take you to the 'Fern Tree' stop, which is the closest public transport point to the mountain. From there, you will need to walk approximately 5 kilometers uphill to reach the Pinnacle. This walk is steep, so be prepared with good walking shoes. The bus fare is approximately $4 each way.

    If you're already in the Wellington Park area, you can hike to the summit via the Pinnacle Track. Starting from the Fern Tree area, follow the signs for the Pinnacle Track. The trail is well-marked and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the summit. This hike is moderately challenging, so ensure you have plenty of water and snacks. It's free to hike, but please note that the weather can be unpredictable, so dress accordingly.
