Car
If you're traveling by car, start by heading towards the town of Byron Bay. From Byron Bay, take the Pacific Highway (A1) north towards Ballina. After approximately 16 kilometers, take the exit towards Bangalow (B62). Follow Bangalow Road until you reach the intersection with the Lismore-Bangalow Road (B62) and turn left. Continue on this road for about 15 kilometers until you reach the town of Lismore. From Lismore, take the Goonellabah Road and follow it until it merges with the Nimbin Road (Binna Burra Road). Continue onto Nimbin Road for about 30 kilometers, then turn onto Minyon Falls Road which will lead you to the Minyon Falls Lookout. There is a parking area available at the lookout. Please note that the roads can be narrow and winding, so drive carefully.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take a bus from Byron Bay or Lismore to Nimbin. The bus service operates daily, but schedules may vary, so check the current timetable in advance. Once you arrive in Nimbin, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to Minyon Falls Lookout, as public transport does not go directly to the lookout. The distance from Nimbin to Minyon Falls is approximately 18 kilometers, and taxi fares can vary based on demand and time of day. It's advisable to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.
Walking
For those who enjoy hiking, you can access the Minyon Falls Lookout via the Minyon Falls walking track. If you drive to the parking area at the base of the track, there is a 2.6 kilometers one-way hiking trail that takes you up to the lookout, offering stunning views of the falls and surrounding rainforest. Allow approximately 1-1.5 hours for the hike each way, and be sure to wear appropriate footwear and carry water. The track can be steep in parts, so be prepared for a moderate level of fitness.
Use Minyon Falls Lookout as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
