If you are driving from Byron Bay, head west on Ewingsdale Road (B62) for about 18 km until you reach the intersection with the Pacific Highway (M1). Merge onto the Pacific Highway heading north. Continue on the M1 for approximately 30 km, then take the exit toward Grafton/Brunswick Heads (B62). Follow B62 through Mullumbimby and continue for another 18 km. Look for the signs toward Oxley River, then turn left onto Oxley River Road. Follow this road until you reach the river.
Public Transport (Bus)
To reach Oxley River by public transport, take the bus from Byron Bay to Mullumbimby. The bus service is run by NSW TrainLink. Once you arrive in Mullumbimby, you will need to catch a local bus or taxi to reach Oxley River. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may vary. The taxi ride from Mullumbimby to Oxley River is approximately 15 km and may cost around AUD 30.
Cycling
For the more adventurous, you can cycle to Oxley River. Start from Byron Bay and follow the same route as the car, using Ewingsdale Road (B62) and then the Pacific Highway (M1). Ensure you have a good map or GPS device to navigate the roads safely. The ride is approximately 50 km and will take around 3-4 hours, depending on your cycling speed.
Walking
Walking to Oxley River is not recommended due to the distance and lack of footpaths along the busy roads. However, if you are in the vicinity of Mullumbimby, you could hike along Oxley River Road from Mullumbimby, which is a scenic route. This would take several hours and is more suitable for experienced hikers.
