Hutchings Park: A Serene Escape in Craiglie

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are in Port Douglas, start by heading towards Macrossan Street, the main street of Port Douglas. From there, walk to the corner of Macrossan St and Wharf St. Continue on Wharf St until you reach the intersection with Port Douglas Rd. At the intersection, turn left onto Port Douglas Rd and follow the road for about 1.5 km. You will pass various shops and residences along the way. Keep an eye out for the signs indicating Craiglie. When you reach the roundabout, take the second exit onto the Captain Cook Highway (National Route 1) towards Craiglie. After about 2 km, you will see signs for Hutchings Park just off the highway. The park entrance is on your right. Enter the park and enjoy the natural beauty it has to offer.

  For a more adventurous option, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Port Douglas. Start at Macrossan Street and head towards Wharf Street. Continue straight to Port Douglas Rd and turn left. Cycle along Port Douglas Rd for about 1.5 km. When you reach the roundabout, take the second exit onto Captain Cook Highway (National Route 1) and continue for another 2 km. Look for signs indicating Hutchings Park, which will be on your right. The cycle path may vary, so be cautious and watch for traffic.

Board a bus that is heading to Craiglie from the main bus stop in Port Douglas, located near Macrossan Street. Inform the driver that you want to get off at Hutchings Park. The journey should take around 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive, follow the signs to the park entrance.
