Car
If you're driving, head towards Cradle Mountain National Park. From Launceston, take the A1 highway towards Devonport, then follow the signs to Cradle Mountain via the Cradle Mountain Road (C132). The journey takes about 2.5 hours. Once you reach the park entrance, you will need to pay an entry fee of approximately AUD 16 per vehicle. Continue on Cradle Mountain Road until you reach the car park at the Dove Lake Circuit. This is the primary starting point for the hike to Marion's Lookout.
Public Transportation
If you prefer using public transport, you can take a bus from Hobart or Launceston to Cradle Mountain. Services like the 'Cradle Mountain Shuttle' operate from Hobart, costing around AUD 110 for a return trip. Once you arrive at the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre, you will need to walk approximately 1 km to the Dove Lake car park, where the walking track to Marion's Lookout begins.
Hiking
From the Dove Lake car park, begin your hike on the Dove Lake Circuit. Follow the signs towards Marion's Lookout. The hike is approximately 6 km one way and is moderately challenging, with an elevation gain of about 400 meters. The trail can take around 2 to 3 hours to reach the lookout, depending on your pace. Ensure you wear appropriate footwear and carry enough water and snacks for the journey.
