Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Hobart. Head north on Elizabeth Street, then turn left onto Campbell Street. Continue on Campbell Street until you reach the intersection with Brisbane Street. The Hobart Convict Penitentiary will be located at the corner of Campbell St and Brisbane St. There is limited street parking available, so be sure to check for parking signs. Note that some parking may incur a fee.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  For those using public transportation, take any bus heading towards the Hobart city center. Once you arrive at the Elizabeth Street bus stop, exit the bus and walk towards Campbell Street. Turn left onto Campbell Street and continue until you reach the intersection with Brisbane Street. The Hobart Convict Penitentiary will be at your right. Bus services operate frequently, and a single bus ticket costs approximately AUD 2.50.

• Walking

  If you are staying in central Hobart, walking to the Hobart Convict Penitentiary is a pleasant option. From Salamanca Place, walk along the waterfront towards Elizabeth Street. Once you reach Elizabeth Street, turn right and continue until you reach Campbell Street. Turn left onto Campbell Street and follow it until you arrive at the intersection with Brisbane Street. The penitentiary will be at the corner. This walk should take around 20 minutes.
